Christmas Hampers
For well over 30 years, St. Luke’s has been supporting the Yule Glow program coordinated by St. Vincent de Paul. This program ensures that those in need will receive food and toiletries for their family and a gift for their children. The program supports over 1500 families in Sarnia. We will once again be providing Christmas hampers to 25 families.
Throughout the year we watch for sales on food goods with a longer expiration date. Linda Cates has been our “master shopper” for the past several years and has already accumulated many food items. The Christmas hamper committee divides up the various tasks. Getting volunteers to help pack the hampers on Dec 20th and to deliver them on Dec 21st,having someone purchase the produce a few days before this and bagging them according to family size, and asking for toothbrushes for all family members are just some of the jobs of this committee. We also provide gift cards so that families can purchase meat.
In order to allow us to prepare 25 food hampers, we need your financial support. Please donate to St. Luke’s Church and write in the memo line Food Hampers. Once we receive the list of families, we will be asking you to consider buying a gift for a child. The age and gender of each child will be given and you get a chance to be Santa Claus to some less fortunate child. Those gifts will be delivered along with the appropriate food hamper.
St. Luke’s members are to be commended for their stewardship of time and money in supporting the Yule Glow program.
Blessings,
Larry McLaren
